After eight years in Berlin, I came home to Australia for Christmas just as the world shut down. Stuck in lockdown with no plan, I joined a sailing expedition that promised to circumnavigate the globe.
COVID restrictions closed borders. The crew was unorganized. The expedition fell apart. This documentary captures what happened when the dream of sailing around the world collided with reality.
This is not a success story. This is a film about failure, uncertainty, and what you learn when everything goes wrong.
I didn't set out to make a film about failure. I set out to document a sailing adventure. But when COVID hit, borders closed, and the crew couldn't get it together, the project became something else entirely.
Sometimes the most honest documentaries come from projects that don't go according to plan. This is one of them.
