Welcome back to Globe Travel Adventures. Join Nhi and Carl on Nha Trang's rugged shoreline where folklore, sunrise views, and sea breezes collide at Vietnam's legendary Husband Rock.
Perched just north of downtown Nha Trang, Hon Chong offers sweeping views over the East Sea, dramatic granite boulders, and a glimpse into local legend. Hit play to soak up golden-hour light and coastal vibes.
Only 3 kilometres north of Nha Trang’s city centre, Hon Chong is a natural sculpture garden carved by wind and waves. Giant granite boulders tower over the East Sea, creating layered viewpoints that feel otherworldly. From the top, the entire Nha Trang skyline and surrounding islands stretch across the horizon.
The Vietnamese name translates to “Husband Rock,” a nod to the legend of a fisherman who clung to the stones through a brutal storm. When he finally broke free, his handprint stayed behind. Locals will still point out the giant palm etched into the granite, keeping the story alive for new visitors.
Come for golden-hour photos, stay for the culture. Just beside the rocks you’ll find a small complex dedicated to Cham heritage with traditional houses, art, and live folk music. It’s the perfect pairing of Vietnam’s coastal nature and the country’s rich storytelling traditions.
Getting to Hon Chong is easy. Hop in a taxi or ride a motorbike from downtown Nha Trang and you’ll arrive in under ten minutes. Staying on the northern end of the beach? You can even walk along the waterfront promenade to the rocks.
Visit early to enjoy gentle sea breezes and quiet viewpoints, or time your trip for late afternoon when the sky burns orange over Nha Trang Bay. After sunset, spotlights illuminate the formations and the city lights flicker to life behind you.
Pair your visit with the nearby Po Nagar Cham Towers or the peaceful pagoda a short stroll away. Whether you’re chasing legends, photographing dramatic coastlines, or sipping cà phê đá with an ocean view, Hon Chong Rocks is a must for any Nha Trang itinerary.
